The Office Lab Teams up with Odoo

We at the office lab provide our clients with services from Microsoft 365 to webhosting and more. Our goal was to create a system that unifies all this into a single system. So that our clients only need to open 1 app from where they can access all the systems and applications to perform their daily tasks. And something happend a little more than a month ago (11/2022). We came by accident in contact with Odoo. Lucky enough 2 days later they gave a roadshow remarkably close to our location. As if this was ment to be. So off we go... and that's when it happend. Love at first sight. Our yaw wide open, fighting against our selves not to drool or sound too enthusiastic. It was like we were trying to build a weel when Odoo already had a full operational, full option car like a Tesla when most people still travel by horse and car. So, we stopt immediately trying to copy Odoo and joined their mission. To transfer as many companies as possible to a platform that does it all.

And with that, we are not joking ... at all. We had the same problem as so many other businesses. Let us explain this a bit. As many, our website was running on WordPress hosted at one of the largest hosting providers. We had Zapier and Microsoft Automate to perform automation where possible. Microsoft Teams to collaborate and have video calls. SharePoint online, to put our documents and intranet. And a Date Verse database from Microsoft Dynamics where we build a model driven and canvas app on top of it. And finally, and other online application to make invoices and book our expenses. And to make them work together, it is like trying to glue water to fire. You get the picture, right?

So, our entire system was fragmented from the front all the way to the back end. It was not only very unpractical but also very time-consuming. "Searching for that mail with that invoice", "where did we put that note with all the requirement from that client", "was that invoice now booked or not".... This is a hand full of situations that happend on a weekly, no, to be honest daily basis. But that is not the only thing, all those platforms and programs come with a cost and a hidden cost. The cost is clear, the licenses to access those platforms or the purchase of software. The hidden cost is more difficult to spot but it is real. Building the custom apps just to show the company data in a certain way. Building and testing the automation to save a couple minutes executing repeating tasks. Keeping the website up to date and even running in some cases. It's all time consuming. Time you cannot spend on important things like building your business.

And because of those things it was for us a no brainer to buy the licenses for using Odoo sixteen as a Saas. Saas means Software As A Service. And of course, signed up for a partnership with Odoo. So that we can help our clients and new clients to transition from an unpractical and fragmented system to a system that has it all. To give you an idea, Odoo 16 comes with a easy to build website builder and a backend that includes:

  • Sales
  • CRM
